What a difference a year makes. At the end of 2000, Five were ruling the boy band roost and Lee Ryan, Antony Costa, Simon Webbe and Duncan James were just four talented lads dreaming of the moment their turn would come. Now they're perched firmly on top of the boy band pop tree and 2002 is going to be their year.
"Lee, Duncan and me got down to the last 10 of a boy band being put together by another label," says Simon. "We were all put together for a day of singing and dancing, and the three of us just hit it off. I wanted to get away from where I was living and Lee said 'Why don't you move in with me.' Duncan knew Antony and from there it just came together."
Blue's well deserved leap to stardom came in July 2001 when their poptastic debut single "All Rise" stormed into the charts at number two. This was followed by their soulful second single "Too Close", which made the top spot. "We wanted to get away from the feel of 'All Rise' because that's not all what we're about," explains Duncan. "And that's why the next single 'If you come back' is different again."
So what kind of music will the boys be listening to in 2002? "I only listen to ballads - I'm such a soppy git," grins Lee. However, Duncan admits to being a bit of a kareoke crooner. "I like doing Elvis numbers and stuff like 'Your Song' by Elton John!" And who do these boys count as their childhood music heroes? "I listened to Take That at home and East 17 at school," says Antony. "Only girls admitted to liking Take That at school! I used to try and rap like Tony Mortimer, so it was great when we met him at a party recently - now we're the ones out there doing it. It's wicked!"
Blue's album "All Rise" is out now.
Blue's Anthony Costa has lashed out at all those people who think that Gareth Gates is the new Elvis Presley.
The pint-sized 'All Rise' tunester admitted to us that, while he thinks Gareth is a talented young lad, he's not as good as some people would have him cracked up to be. He's also concerned that the 18-year-old Bradford stammerer may start believing the hype!
"At the end of the day, Gareth Gates is Gareth Gates" he stormed. "Elvis was an icon. Gareth isn't. It annoys me how people say he's the new Elvis and people bow down to him. He's only 18 and he'll start believing that. Good luck to him, though."
Blue release their new single, 'One Love', on the 28th of October, followed by their second album a couple of weeks later.

It looks like boyband Blue blew it naming their band Blue after not realizing there was already a Blue band from back in the 70's. Now old boys Blue want boyband Blue to hand back the Blue. Both bands names are Blue so old Blue boys wants boyband Blue's Blue name back.
Old boys Blue are also from England. They formed in 1973 and disbanded in 1979, but some of their albums are still available in the UK, hence the confusion.Old Blue was signed to Elton John's Rocket Label and the Rocket Man actually produced their self titled debut album.
So it does indeed look like boyband Blue are in for a serious fight. Old Blue records are still available and they claim boyband Blue are hurting their sales.

Their debut single All Rise was produced by the Norwegian hitmakers Stargate who are responsibile for the hits of loads of artists including Mariah, Sisqo and Stephen Gately. It was also the debut single of the London band Blue.
Blue apparently have a mission statement: and that is "to perform quality songs with tough grooves and soulful vocals". The second single was Too Close.

Blue, eine erfolgreiche Boyband aus London, haben sich bei ihrem Besuch im SWR3-Studio gleich so wohl gefühlt, dass sie SWR3-Moderator Kristian Thees interessante Details ihrer Vergangenheit anvertraut haben. Antony, Simon, Lee und Duncan verrieten im SWR3-Interview ihre kleinen Jugendsünden:
Antony hat als Kind seine Fußnägel gekaut. Damit mußte er aber aufhören, als er nicht mehr mit dem Fuß bis zum Gesicht kam – das müsste man vielleicht mal überprüfen, wenn man ihn das nächste Mal barfuß sieht…
Ein schon fast traumatisches Erlebnis mit seiner Sonntagshose hatte Simon: die Hose kratzte so sehr, dass er sie nicht länger tragen wollte. Seine Mutter hat ihm dann einfach eine ihrer Strumpfhosen gegeben, die er unter der Hose anziehen konnte. Vermutlich war Simon einer von sehr wenigen Jungen, die mit Strumpfhose zur Kirche gehen durften.
Lee ist der Spaßvogel in der Band. Während des Interviews lag er lässig in seinem Stuhl, die Füße auf dem Tisch und erzählte ganz entspannt von einem Besuch bei seiner Oma als er noch ein Kind war. Dort kam er auf die Idee, mit Streichhölzern rumzuzündeln und fackelte prompt die Vorhänge seiner Oma ab.
Als „Big Baby“ bezeichnet sich Duncan – und das nicht ohne Grund: noch mit acht Jahren konnte er nicht ohne seinen geliebten Schnuller einschlafen.
Bei dem großen Live-Konzert „Party in the Park“ zu Ehren der Queen in London haben Blue die englische Königin persönlich getroffen und waren ganz begeistert. Auch die ganz großen Stars wie Tom Jones oder Elton John waren bei dem Konzert dabei. SWR3-Moderator Kristian Thees wollte von Blue wissen, wer sie am meisten beeindruckt hat: .

you've thought the new offering from Blue, 'One Love' sounds pretty much the same kind of material they offered previously, you are right.
According to Duncan, they've returned to the tried-and-tested formula of 'All Rise' and 'Fly By' to make sure fans know who they are.
"We've been out of the market for a few months so we wanted people to turn on the radio and think, 'Blue are back'. We don't want them to think, 'Who's that?'"
But if fans are a bit worried that Blue's eagerly-anticipated second album will not have developed from last year's smash-hit, 'All Rise', fear not. There are lots of surprises.
"The other singles are going to be different" Lee told, speaking to a webzine. "We're not going to change our style but on the album there's a lot of variation. The fans are going to like it."
"There's a cover called 'Don't Treat Me Like A Fool' which is from Angie Stone's first album, 'Black Diamond'" Duncan revealed. "We're really pleased about this album. We were working on it the same time as 'All Rise'. The music is going to be more up-tempo and edgier. We wrote about 90% of it."
Blue's new album is released come 11th of November.

Dannii Minogue has her sights set on a new pop star pin-up - she fancies all four members of hunky boyband Blue.
The Australian star, who is making a musical comeback, happily admits to lusting after Duncan James, Lee Ryan, Antony Costa and Simon Weebe - because, despite her relationship with ex-Bros bassist Craig LoganC, Dannii believes fantasising about pop pin-ups keeps her youthful.
She drools, "I fancy Blue - all of them. I mean Duncan was my first crush, but Simon up close, his eyes. And Lee is really cheeky. Antony's really quiet - I didn't really speak to him much.
"But they're all beautiful. I felt Duncan recently and he was rock hard. Only down to the waist, I didn't go below, I'm a good girl. They're all hard, those boys.
